GraniteGranite, Gneiss and Gabbro are different kinds of “granite” that are sold. They are magmatic stones consisting mainly of three minerals, quartz, feldspar (plagioclase and feldspar) and mica (muscovite and / or biotite). Most real granites are light in color. The ratio of the different minerals can vary, but quartz is the main component (about 50%). The appearance of the quartz is usually (milk-) white, feldspar may be colored (cream, pink) and mica (glimmers) are usually brown or light gray in color. Because of the volcanic origin the stone contains no lime and is therefore acid resistant.
